Well we made it home safely, no it was not our plane that ended up in the Hudson river. We had left about 18 hours before that plane landed in the river...

New York, New York!!

Have only got a limited time so must be quick.

Arrived safely and found Michael & Rachel at the hotel safely! It is very, very, very cold! Almost in the minus's every day. So fair to say we are pretty much the coldest we have ever been!

We have explored the city in the past few days, seen Mary Poppins on Broadway and went to a movie, Marley and Me. Both were great! We ventured up to the Empire State Building today, all 86 floors up! Tomorrow we are hitting the muesums.

Cam got his first taste at falling snow yesterday as we went via train to an outlet mall! He and Michael had a great time amusing themselves with a snow fight as we waited for our train to arrive.

Both tired, both cold but really having a ball!

This will be our last post as we have limited time on the net. See you all in Oz.

Love, Jane & Cam xx

Anniversaries

Again, crazy couple of days. Nothing new for this trip though.

We headed to Alcatraz on our Australian wedding anniversary. It was the first day we experienced the 'real' San Fransisco weather. We woke up to rain, fog and generally a bloody freezing day. We did our best to explore what we could as we have limited time in th city. Saw Alcatraz and really enjoyed the audio tour around the place. After this we had high hopes to see more sites, but the weather got the worst of us and we shopped a little to stay in the warmth of the shopping centres. Cam really loved finding the Levis store! Need i say more??? Oh, before we got too cold we got off the cable car stop at Lombard Street, the worlds crookedest street in the world! We were very brave walking up and down the street, the hills in San Fran definitely taking its toll on our new American diet, it hurt a lot! We also had a bit of a Fisherman's Wharf explore, not too much though, stupid weather!

Now our USA anniversary! As usual Cam had a secret surprise up his sleeve! We got to the very beautiful Bellagio Hotel via cab and immediately fell in love with the glamour of the Hotel and Vegas. Amazing how this glamorous, bright and over the top place exists in the middle of nowhere! Didn't stay long in the Bellagio, we had some walking to do to explore the sights! We walked the strip a fair way down and had a quick lunch. Luckily we found Coke World and its neighbour M&M World, the day was complete for Jane! We dined at a very lovely restaurant in the Bellagio called Olives, ate very highly priced food and drank equally priced wine and watched the dancing fountains as we enjoyed being part of the Vegas life. After this Cam's suprise hit, he had booked a show for us to see at Treaure Island Hotel, a block from the Bellagio! Very sneaky! So off we went to Cirque De Soleil (spelling is probably wrong!) performing Mystere! It was breathtaking! Loved every ounce of it! The show finished by 11:30 and we wandered back to the Bellagio in time to see the final dancing fountain at midnight. Little to say we slept very soundly after a crazy day!

So did we have any luck? Of course we managed time to have a bit of a flutter on the slots and as complete amateurs we made a few extras dollars! We were very excited when we heard the machine make noises, but it wasn't the noise of millions of dollars, just $15 or so, but none the less we were in front!

So that is us for now, heading to the NBA tonight. Cam is very excited, the thought of a subway trip does not appeal much to either of us but it should be a heap of fun! Although Jane has no idea who we are cheering for!

Looking forward to New York, but most of all heading back to Australia so we can escape the American accents! heheheh

Lots of love, Jane & Cam xx

Carmel, Monterey & 17 Mile Beach

Well today we played with the rich and famous. Driving through famous 17 Mile Beach and looking at $10 million dollar homes along the beach. Simply stunning!
Pebble Beach Golf Course was amazing and I think we got a few stares of why are plebs wondering through this area....Stopped in Monterey where we did Cannery Row which was nice. Finally stopping at Carmel where we stepped it up with more socialising amongst the rich and their dogs. Crazy! Although it was beautiful it was not us.
Look at the photo of Jane, couple of things wrong...at the beach, sun is shining and we are rugged up to the nines.
Anyway just a quick post, off to Alcatraz and discover more of San Fran tomorrow.

San Fran

We have made it! We thought that LA was cold, however it seems that we didn't know cold until now. It is a nice little warm up to NY, should i say cold up? Its about 52F pretty chilly.

Last night we had our walking tour of China Town. Had tea at a little Chinese restaurant which was very yummy. The bus driver was a bizzare and little to say he didn't get a tip, but the walking tour guide was amazing! We learnt a lot about the Chinese who immigrated here for the gold rush and what it was like for them building their own little world.

Today we are off to Carmel, Monterey and 17 Mile Drive. Did day but looking forward to it.

Will let you know how it goes. By the way.....love this city!
